Timothy B. Weston is an associate professor of Chinese history at the University of Colorado. Earlier this year his co-edited volume, China's Transformations: The Stories beyond the Headlines, was published by Rowman & Littlefield Publishers, Inc. Weston's own essay in that volume focuses on labor problems in China and on the Chinese coal mining industry.
